# Use Dashing inside ChatGPT and Claude

> Add the free Dashing connector to Claude and ask shop maths and barcode questions in plain words. It needs no account and stores nothing you type.

Dashing has a small connector for AI assistants. Once you add it, the assistant can do shop maths and barcode lookups for you and link to the matching Dashing calculator for each answer.

## What it can do

- Barcode lookup: the country a barcode prefix belongs to, and whether the check digit is correct.
- Invoice totals, including the QR code of the Saudi simplified tax invoice.
- Account statement: the running balance and who owes whom.
- Profit, margin and markup: from cost and price, or the price for a margin you want.
- Discount: the price after a discount and what it does to your profit.
- Percentages: x percent of y, x is what percent of y, and percent change.
- VAT: add it to a price or take it out of a price that already includes it.

## Add it in Claude

1. Open Claude and go to Settings, then Connectors.
2. Press "Add custom connector".
3. Paste `https://dashingerp.com/mcp` and save.
4. Start a chat and ask your question. Claude uses the connector when it fits.

- It needs no account and stores nothing you type.
- It is not tax or legal advice.
- It has no live exchange rates.
- It never reads or changes your own shop's data. To work with your own sales, stock and accounts, use the Dashing app.

## Common questions

**Do I need a Dashing account?**

No. The connector is public and needs no sign-in. It cannot see your shop and does not read or change any of your Dashing data.

**Does it save what I type?**

No. Your questions and numbers are used to work out the answer and are not stored.

**Is it tax or legal advice?**

No. It does the arithmetic you ask for. Check tax rules and amounts with your accountant.

**Does it have live exchange rates?**

No. It works with the numbers you give it and does not look up current rates.
