Honest comparison

Paper notebook or Dashing: when should the daftar move to a screen?

Dashing is your notebook, but it adds up. It fits a shop where the totals are slow to add up, a customer disagrees about what they owe, more than one person writes in the book, or you want to know your profit. It is free for one branch, with no card.

Where Dashing is better

Totals: every customer has a balance that moves with each payment, aged at 30, 60 and 90 days. Statement: staff send it on WhatsApp with one tap, a polite way to ask, instead of an awkward conversation. Safety: a page can be lost or edited; in Dashing nothing is deleted, an invoice is voided with a visible entry, and the shop is backed up nightly. Stock and profit: each sale lowers stock and feeds the income statement. Limit: you can set a credit limit per customer.

How many Iraqi shops still use a paper notebook is not public; we found no survey (2026-10). One 2026 paper puts cash at about 90% of transactions and 23% of adults with a formal account, which shows the setting is friendly to paper.

Who Dashing fits

  • Several people writing in the book, many customers on credit, disputes about amounts, a second branch, or a bank or accountant asking for statements.

Common questions

Do I have to give up my notebook?

No. Start by entering old customer balances; the notebook can stay beside it until you trust the screen.

What if the power goes out?

The cashier keeps selling offline on the device while its battery lasts, and uploads sales once when the connection returns.

Is it really free?

Yes for one branch: no card, no expiry, sales never capped. A second branch needs the yearly plan.
