Receipt voucher and thermal receipt: type, print, sign.

When a customer pays you, whether a payment on a debt, a deposit or rent, they need a paper that shows what you received. Type who paid, the amount, what it was for and how, and you get a receipt voucher with a running number and two signature lines, one for the receiver and one for the payer. If you want a short sales slip for a thermal printer instead, pick the receipt, choose 58 or 80 mm, and add the items and the amount paid to see the change. Print it or save it as PDF. In Dashing, every sale at the till prints its own receipt.

Paid by

The shop name, phone and currency are remembered in your browser, and the voucher number goes up by one after each print. Nothing leaves your device.

What goes on a receipt voucher

Five things: the voucher number and date, who paid, the amount in the currency, what it was for, and how it was paid, in cash, by transfer or by cheque. Then the receiver signs and the payer signs. The number runs on from RV-0001 and goes up by one after each print; change it by hand if you are carrying on from a paper book.

Thermal printer: 58 or 80 mm

The numbers are the width of the paper roll. 80 mm is the most common at a till and fits longer item names; 58 mm is smaller and cheaper and suits portable printers. Pick your roll's width and the page is set to it. In the print window choose actual size (100%) and no margins, and print one test slip before you rely on the setup.

Common questions

Is the voucher legally binding?

A voucher is a paper that records the handover between two people once both sign it, but the rules for official and tax documents differ by country. Check with your accountant if you need it for tax.

Is anything saved?

The shop name, phone, currency and the next voucher number are remembered in your browser only, for next time. The payer's name and the amount are not saved, and nothing leaves your device.

How is it different from the invoice generator?

An invoice asks for money for goods or a service; a voucher shows that you received money. So this voucher has two signature lines and no items, while the thermal slip is the short version for items sold at the till.
