A grocery purchase order: how many cartons, and how many pieces in each.
The supplier delivers groceries by the carton, but you sell by the piece and cost by the piece. When the pieces per carton differ between items, it is easy to miscount what you bought. So this template adds the number of cartons and the units in each, and the quantity column holds the total in pieces, so the unit cost is the cost of one piece. The sample rows are common grocery items with no brands, and the costs are blank.

Common questions
How do I work out the total quantity?
Multiply cartons by the units in a carton and enter the result as the quantity, so you cost one piece and put your margin on that. The template does not do it for you because a carton is sometimes short.
What if the supplier changes the carton size?
Yes, the cost of one piece changes even if the carton price stays. Divide the new carton price by the new piece count rather than carrying the old per-piece cost over.
Can I receive the order in stages?
On the sheet, note what arrived or keep a second copy and compare it with the cartons ordered. In Dashing a purchase order can be received in part, and the rest stays open.
