A clothing stock count: a line for every style, size and colour.

Counting clothes is tiring because one style splits into sizes and colours, and a shortage hides when the whole style is counted at once. This template gives you a line for each combination of style, size and colour, so you count every piece where it hangs and see which size ran out. It has sample rows with no brands, and the expected quantities are illustrations only.

Common questions

Do I count shown and stored pieces together?

Yes, but in one pass, in order: the floor first, then the back room, and enter the total in counted. Counting in two separate rounds gives double-counted or forgotten pieces.

What about returned pieces not yet back on the shelf?

Put them back on the floor before the count, or count them and note it, otherwise they show as missing while sitting in a drawer. A returned piece not yet resold is still your stock.

How do I find why there is a difference?

Start with neighbouring sizes, as the commonest mistake is a piece sold in a size next to the one on the invoice. Then check transfers between branches and returns. Write what you find beside the difference.
