A jewelry stock count: each piece with its karat and weight.

Gold's value lies in weight and karat, so counting pieces alone is not enough: two pieces with the same name can differ in weight. This template adds karat and weight in grams per item so you compare the weight on hand with your records. It has sample rows, and the weights and quantities are illustrations only. A jewelry count is normally done with two people present.

Common questions

Do I count pieces or weigh them?

Both. Count pieces in the counted column, then weigh the whole item group and compare it with the sum of its pieces' weights in your records. The count can match while the weight does not if a piece was swapped for a lighter one.

What does 925 mean in the karat column?

It is the purity of silver: 92.5 percent pure silver. Gold is written in karats such as 18, 21 and 24, silver in parts per thousand, so write what is stamped on the piece.

How do I protect the count from error?

Close the shop while counting, have one person count and another record, and do not open the safe twice. Compare against the last count signed by both.

Dashing does this for every item, automatically, in your shop.
