Card payment

A card payment is when the customer pays with a bank card on a terminal, and the money reaches your account minus a fee.

What it means for a shop owner

It never enters the cash drawer, and waits for the bank to settle after a day or more. The provider fee is an expense to record. Match the bank statement against card sales from time to time.

A worked example

A card sale of 200 with a 2 percent fee. The bank receives 196 and 4 is booked as an expense.
