Cheque
A cheque is a paper that orders the bank to pay an amount from the writer's account to the person named.
What it means for a shop owner
A cheque can bounce if the account lacks enough funds, so check who issued it before handing over goods. The rules differ from country to country. Record the cheque number, bank and clearing date.
A worked example
You take a cheque for 1800 that clears after 5 days, so you log it as an incoming cheque.
