Damaged goods
Damaged goods are items that broke, got soiled or stopped working and can no longer be sold at full price.
What it means for a shop owner
Take them out of sellable stock and record them with a clear reason. You may sell them cheaper, return them to the supplier or dispose of them. Record them so they do not show up as a mystery shortage in the count.
A worked example
A box of 6 cups falls and 4 break, so you record 4 as damaged.
