Glossary
Just-in-time
It is a method of buying goods shortly before you need them instead of storing large quantities.
What it means for a shop owner
It cuts tied-up money and spoilage, but it needs a fast and reliable supplier. If the supplier is late, the item runs out. It suits shops close to their suppliers.
A worked example
You order vegetables every two days instead of weekly, so spoilage falls from 10 to 3 crates.
