Lead time
Lead time is the number of days between ordering goods from a supplier and having them ready on your shelves.
What it means for a shop owner
If you ignore it, the item runs out before the order lands. Set the reorder point to cover sales over this period. If a supplier runs late, use their real time, not the promised one.
A worked example
You sell 10 pieces a day and the lead time is 5 days. You need 50 pieces to cover the wait before the order arrives.
