Landed cost

Landed cost is the price of the goods plus everything paid to get them into your store, such as freight, customs and insurance.

What it means for a shop owner

Without it the margin looks larger than it is and you may price at a loss. Spread the charges over the items by value or weight. Use it instead of the invoice price alone when pricing.

A worked example

Goods cost 1,000, freight 80 and customs 120. Landed cost is 1,200, so with 400 pieces each costs 3.
