Payables (supplier debts)

Payables are the amounts for goods you bought on credit and have not yet paid to the supplier.

What it means for a shop owner

They are free financing as long as you pay on time, but paying late hurts your name and can stop deliveries. Keep in front of you what falls due in the next two weeks so you hold the cash needed.

A worked example

You owe one supplier 500 due in 10 days and another 300 due in 25. Total payables are 800, and you need 500 ready within 10 days.
