Due date

The due date is the agreed day an invoice or debt must be paid, after which the amount counts as late.

What it means for a shop owner

Writing it on the bill turns a spoken agreement into a clear date you can follow. It sorts late debts and tells you whom to call first, and it shows when you must pay your own suppliers.

A worked example

You sell on 1 March with payment in 30 days, so the due date is 31 March. If he has not paid by 5 April, the debt is 5 days late.
