Sales tax
Sales tax is a tax added to the selling price that you collect from the customer and pass to the tax authority.
What it means for a shop owner
Whether it exists, its rate and what it covers differ between countries and even regions, so learn the rules where you trade. It is not your revenue. Show it separately from the price on the bill.
A worked example
Take a price of 100 and a 10 percent tax as an example: the customer pays 110 and you pass 10 to the authority.
