Tax period

A tax period is the span over which your taxes are gathered into one return, such as a month, a quarter or a year.

What it means for a shop owner

The authority sets it, and it may change with the size of your business. Know the filing deadline and put it in your calendar. Filing late may cost a penalty.

A worked example

Your period is three months, from 1 January to 31 March. You gather 90 days of tax into one return.
