Unit economics
Unit economics is working out the profit or loss on selling one piece or one service after all its direct costs.
What it means for a shop owner
Do not stop at price minus purchase cost; add shipping, packaging, commission, card fees and your time. If a unit loses money, more sales only add to the loss. Work it out for your main items.
A worked example
You sell at 50. Purchase is 35, packaging 2, card fee 1 and delivery 6. Profit per unit is 50 minus 44, which is 6.
