Working capital
Working capital is the cash, stock and money owed to you, minus the bills you must pay soon.
What it means for a shop owner
It shows whether you can meet coming bills and buy new stock. If it is negative, the shop is living on delays and may stumble. Slow stock lifts the number without giving you cash.
A worked example
Cash 2,000, stock 5,000 and customer debts 1,000 make 8,000. Bills due soon of 3,000 leave working capital of 5,000.
