A fabric invoice: each fabric with its colour and its metres.

Fabric is sold by the metre, not the piece, and quantities carry fractions: two and a half metres, or three and a quarter. Each colour comes from a different roll, and a new roll may not match what the customer bought a month ago. So this template adds a colour column and a roll number beside the quantity, which here is in metres, so the unit price is the price per metre. The sample rows are common fabrics, with the prices left blank.

Common questions

How do I write a quantity with fractions?

Type it as a decimal: 2.5 for two and a half metres, 3.25 for three and a quarter. The template multiplies that number by the price per metre, so the total comes out right.

Why record the roll number?

Because the same colour can differ slightly between rolls. If the customer comes back weeks later for more, the number points to the roll you cut from and spares you matching by eye.

Can I sell items by the piece on the same invoice?

Yes. Put thread, buttons and zips on an ordinary line with a quantity in pieces and leave colour and roll blank. Just make that line's price per piece, not per metre.

Dashing does this for every item, automatically, in your shop.
