Cart abandonment

Cart abandonment is when a visitor adds items to the cart and then leaves without completing payment.

What it means for a shop owner

Causes include hidden costs, a complicated checkout and hesitation. Simplify payment and show the final price early. A gentle reminder message can bring some back.

A worked example

100 visitors add to the cart and only 30 pay, so 70 percent abandon.
