Glossary
Customs duty
Customs duty is an amount a government charges on imported goods when they cross the border.
What it means for a shop owner
The rate depends on the type of goods and the country of origin, and it changes with government decisions. Add it into the item cost so you price correctly. Ask a customs agent before buying.
A worked example
Goods worth 5000 with an 8 percent duty as an example add 400 to the cost.
