Pre-order

A pre-order is when a customer orders a product before it reaches the shop, sometimes paying a deposit.

What it means for a shop owner

It shows you demand before you buy the quantity. Tell the customer the expected arrival date and what happens if it is late. Keep the deposit as a debt you owe until he collects the goods.

A worked example

12 customers order a new phone and each pays a 50 deposit, so you hold 600 in deposits.
