Glossary
Processing fee
A processing fee is an amount or percentage that the payment provider takes from each card or electronic payment.
What it means for a shop owner
It is part of your cost, so count it when pricing products. It varies between providers and card types, so compare before you sign. Record it as its own expense.
A worked example
A card sale of 1000 with a 2 percent fee costs you 20.
