Psychological pricing
Psychological pricing is choosing a number that feels lower or fairer to the customer, such as 9.90 instead of 10.
What it means for a shop owner
It does not suit every market, since in some places customers prefer round numbers. Try two prices on one item and compare sales. Remember the effect of rounding on cash payments.
A worked example
You sell a shirt at 19.90 for one week and 20 for the next, then compare the pieces sold in the two weeks.
