Rounding
Rounding is adjusting a bill to the nearest amount that is easy to pay in cash, such as the nearest fifty or hundred.
What it means for a shop owner
It helps when small coins or notes are missing, so the shop avoids hunting for change. Record the rounding gap in its own line so it does not vanish into sales. If it always goes your way, review that with fairness in mind.
A worked example
A bill of 4,730 is rounded to 4,750. The gap of 20 is recorded once, and if it repeats 10 times a day it adds up to 200.
