Quote (quotation)

A quote is a document sent before the sale, giving the price, the terms and how long it is valid, with no payment owed yet.

What it means for a shop owner

It protects you because the price is fixed on a date, and the customer because he can compare clearly. When he agrees you turn it into an invoice without retyping, so no detail is lost.

A worked example

You offer 10 pieces at 30 each = 300, valid 7 days. If he agrees on day 5 the quote becomes an invoice for 300.
