Delivery note
A delivery note travels with the goods, listing their items and quantities so the receiver can sign that he took them.
What it means for a shop owner
It usually carries no price, because it proves delivery, not payment. The receiver's signature protects you from a claim that nothing arrived, and protects him from taking something he did not order.
A worked example
You send 12 cartons and the receiver signs for 12. If he finds 11 on opening, he writes that down before signing.
