Return rate

The return rate is the value or number of sales sent back to you divided by total sales.

What it means for a shop owner

A high rate often points to a problem with quality, item description or size. Look for the item that comes back most. A return can cost more than the item's value because of time and handling.

A worked example

Of 500 pieces sold, 25 came back, so the return rate is 5 percent.
