Return

A return is goods a customer brings back after buying, which go back into stock or are written off, and the price is repaid or taken off what he owes.

What it means for a shop owner

Record a return as its own entry tied to the original sale instead of editing the old bill. That keeps the report honest and shows the return rate per item, and a high rate points to a quality or description problem.

A worked example

The shop sold 200 pieces and 10 came back. The return rate = 10 ÷ 200 = 5%.
