Statement of account
A statement of account lists everything sold and paid for one customer or supplier over a period and ends with a single balance showing what is owed.
What it means for a shop owner
It settles a disagreement before it starts because both sides look at the same figures. Send it to the customer before the due date instead of phoning to ask for money; it is calmer, clearer and easier to accept.
A worked example
A month holds bills of 500 and 300 and one payment of 400. Balance = 500 + 300 - 400 = 400 owed by the customer.
