Stocktake

A stocktake is counting every item in the shop at one time and comparing it with the records.

What it means for a shop owner

It is usually done at year end or at closing to value stock. It differs from a cycle count, which counts a small part each day. Pause selling during it or record movements carefully.

A worked example

You count 1200 pieces and the record says 1215, so you settle the 15 shortage.
