Glossary
Void
A void cancels a sale or a line that was entered by mistake, so it is treated as though it never happened.
What it means for a shop owner
It differs from a return because the goods usually never left the shop. Keep voiding to a special permission and keep a log of who voided and when. Many voids by one person is a signal worth reviewing.
A worked example
A cashier scans a 25 item twice by mistake. They void the second line and the bill stays 25, not 50.
