Cash back

Cash back is returning part of the purchase value to the customer, as cash or credit, after the sale is complete.

What it means for a shop owner

It encourages the customer to return because he sees credit waiting. Record the credit and its expiry clearly. It differs from a refund, since here the customer has returned nothing.

A worked example

You give 5 percent cash back. A customer buys 200 worth and gets 10 as credit for next time.
