Coupon

A coupon is a paper or code that gives its holder a set discount at purchase, usually with an expiry date.

What it means for a shop owner

It brings a customer back to the shop or shows which advert worked. Give each coupon a different code so you can count how many were used. Set a minimum purchase so you do not lose money.

A worked example

A coupon gives 10 off purchases over 50. A customer buys 80 worth and pays 70.
