Gift card
A gift card is prepaid credit that someone buys so that they or another person can spend it in your shop later.
What it means for a shop owner
The sum, when sold, is a duty on you and not profit, and becomes income when the card is used. Record each use and deduct it from the balance so the customer can see what is left.
A worked example
A card sold for 100 and 60 is spent on purchases. 40 stays on it, and only the 60 counts as income.
