Cash count

A cash count is counting the notes and coins in the drawer by denomination and comparing the total with what should be there.

What it means for a shop owner

Do it when a shift opens and closes, ideally before a witness. Write down each denomination and its count. Record any gap right away.

A worked example

20 notes of 50 and 30 notes of 10 make 1300.
