Customer display
A customer display is a small screen facing the customer at the till that shows items, prices and the total as they are scanned.
What it means for a shop owner
It builds trust because the customer sees what is being charged at once, and cuts arguments over the total. It also shows change. Not every shop needs one, but it helps in a rush.
A worked example
The customer sees 12 items and a total of 86 on his screen, and corrects a doubled item at once before paying.
