Debit note
A debit note is a document that raises what a customer owes after an invoice was issued, such as fixing an undercharge or adding a fee.
What it means for a shop owner
It is the opposite of a credit note and is also issued separately, pointing to the original invoice. It is also used with suppliers when you send goods back and ask them to deduct the value.
A worked example
An invoice of 300 was written 20 below the real price. You issue a debit note for 20 and the total becomes 320.
