EAN-13 barcode
EAN-13 is a barcode of 13 digits used on most packaged products around the world, and every scanner can read it.
What it means for a shop owner
Its first digits point to the registering country or company, and the last digit checks the read is sound. It does not mean the country made the product. If you make your own product you can use an in-house code instead of buying an official number.
A worked example
The number 6281001234567 has 13 digits. If a scanner reads only 12 or a wrong digit, the number is not valid.
