Flash sale

A flash sale is a reduced price for a very short time or a limited quantity, to push customers to buy quickly.

What it means for a shop owner

State the start and end time clearly and announce it. Make sure the reduced price is still above cost. Restore the old price when it ends so the discount does not stay by mistake.

A worked example

20 percent off 30 pieces on Thursday from 4 to 6 pm.
