Impulse buy
An impulse buy is when a customer buys something he did not plan to because he saw it and liked it on the spot.
What it means for a shop owner
It happens most near the till and at the exit, with small cheap items. Place small items with a good margin there. Do not push things he does not need, or you lose trust.
A worked example
Gum placed at the till sells 40 packs a day at 1 each, adding 40 of sales with no extra effort.
