Minimum order quantity
Minimum order quantity is the smallest amount a supplier will sell you in one order, of an item or of the whole invoice.
What it means for a shop owner
The supplier sets it to cover handling and shipping. It may push you above what you need, so check whether the discount is worth the cash it ties up. You can negotiate it if you buy regularly.
A worked example
The supplier requires at least 50 pieces and you sell 20 a month. It takes 2.5 months to sell the order, so decide if that suits you.
