Price matching

Price matching is agreeing to sell an item at the same price a customer found at a competing shop.

What it means for a shop owner

It can keep a customer but eat your profit if you offer it to everyone. Set conditions, such as the same item, in stock, with proof of the price. Never go below your cost.

A worked example

You price at 50 with a cost of 42, and the customer found 47 elsewhere. You match at 47 and still earn 5 instead of 8, which beats losing the sale.
