Trade discount
A trade discount is a reduction from the list price that a supplier gives a business buying to resell.
What it means for a shop owner
It shows on the supplier invoice as a cut from the price, so it is not recorded as a separate amount. It is why wholesale is below retail. Ask for a higher tier as your orders grow.
A worked example
The list price is 100 with a 20 percent trade discount, so you pay 80 a piece.
