Weighing scale

A weighing scale measures the weight of goods, and in modern shops it prints a label with weight, price and a barcode the till can read.

What it means for a shop owner

Calibrate it with a known weight from time to time, since a small error multiplies with quantity. Set the price per kilo on the item. For selling by weight, agree the label format with your till.

A worked example

A weight of 0.750 kg at 8 per kg. The label shows 6 and the till reads it directly.
