Selling
A barcode isn't found at the till: the three choices
The window "This code isn't in your products" after a scan: add it as a new product, add the code to a product you have, or sell for a price you type.

A scan the till doesn't know makes two low beeps and opens a window with the code and big buttons. The sale stays as it is while you choose.
Steps
- Read the title: "This code isn't in your products". The code is shown under it, so check it against the package.
- If the item is new to your shop, press "Add as a new product", type the name and the price, then save. On a phone camera the form opens by itself with the code filled in and the cursor on the name; "Save and add to the sale" puts it in the sale and the camera comes back.
- If you already have the item under another barcode (a new package, a second supplier), press "Add this code to a product I have", then pick the product. The next scan finds it.
- If you only want to sell now and name it later, press "Sell for a price I type", enter the amount, and continue. Anyone can do this, the cashier included.
- To skip the window without saving anything, press "Not now"; the sale is untouched.
- Cashier: ask the owner to save the code. The window says that only the shop owner saves a barcode.
If it doesn't work
- "Barcode not saved: this barcode belongs to another product": open that product in Inventory and check it.
- "Barcode not saved: the product no longer exists": the product was removed; pick another or add a new one.
- Any other failure: link the barcode again from the product's own screen (adding a product).
What the system does not do
It does not invent barcodes for products. When the code is a public one it may suggest the name; the price you always set yourself.
Common questions
- Can a cashier save the barcode?
- No. Only the shop owner (or a manager) saves a barcode to a product. The cashier can still sell the item now with "Sell for a price I type" and ask the owner to save it.
- It says the code belongs to another product.
- A code can belong to one product only. Open that product in Inventory, check it is the right one, and move or fix the code there.
