Tip
A tip is an extra amount a customer gives staff of their own will on top of the bill, as thanks for service.
What it means for a shop owner
It is not shop revenue but money held for staff, so do not mix it with sales or charge tax on it. Record it separately on card payments so it is shared fairly. Agree on how to split it from the start.
A worked example
A bill of 40 is paid as 45 by card. You record 40 as sales and 5 as tips for staff.
