Holding a sale and coming back to it later

A customer forgot their wallet? Press "Hold" to park the cart, serve the next person, then open "Held" and tap the sale to bring it back, even from another till.

Press "Hold" to park the cart as it is (items, customer, discounts) and start a fresh one. Open "Held" later and tap the sale to continue it.

Steps

  1. On "Sell", build the cart as usual.
  2. Press "Hold". The cart is parked and the screen is empty for the next customer.
  3. Serve the next customer. A "Held" button with a number appears at the top.
  4. When the first customer is back, press "Held". The window "Held sales" lists every parked sale with the customer, the number of items, the time and the total.
  5. Tap the sale to bring it back into the cart. If you already have items in the cart, they are parked first, so nothing is lost.
  6. Charge it as normal.

A sale parked on another till of the same store shows under "From another till", with the name of who parked it. Tapping it brings it to this till.

If it doesn't work

  • No "Held" button: nothing is parked. It appears after your first "Hold".
  • You don't need a held sale: use the bin icon ("Delete") on its row. This cannot be undone.
  • The other till's sale is not listed: open "Held" again so the list refreshes, and check you are in the same store.

What the system does not do

It does not reserve the stock for a held sale and it does not remind you about it. Held sales are shared by the fast mode and the invoice mode.

Common questions

Where is the "Held" button?
It sits at the top of the Sell screen and only appears once something is parked. The number on it is how many held sales you have.
Does a held sale take the items out of stock?
No. Nothing is sold until you charge it, so the stock only moves when the resumed sale is paid.
