Selling

The till says "None left in stock": sell anyway or fix the count

When an item is more than the stock shows, the owner or a manager can press "Sell anyway" or allow it always in Settings; a cashier is asked to call one of them.

If the cart asks for more than the stock shows, a red notice says how many are left ("None left in stock" or "Only N left") and how many you asked for. You can sell anyway and fix the count afterwards.

Steps

  1. Read the notice: it names the item and the quantities.
  2. If you are the owner or a manager, press "Sell anyway". This sale goes through; the next one asks again.
  3. If this keeps happening, the owner can press "Always allow selling more than I have" in the same notice. Or open "Settings", then "Inventory", and turn on "Allow selling below zero stock".
  4. To stop being asked, enter the real quantity: press the tip "Tip: enter how many you have so this stops asking", or use adjusting one item's quantity.
  5. If the item should not be in the sale, press "Remove item".

If it doesn't work

  • A cashier sees "Ask the owner or a manager to allow this sale." and only an "OK" button. Ask them to press "Sell anyway", or to turn on the setting.
  • "Couldn't change the setting": use "Sell anyway" for now and try the setting again later.

What happens in the books

A sale below zero is booked and the stock goes negative. When you receive the goods the cost is corrected.

Common questions

Why does the till refuse an item that is on my shelf?
Because Dashing thinks you have none, usually since the opening quantity was never entered or a delivery was not received. Sell anyway for now, then fix the count.
Does selling below zero break my accounts?
No. The sale goes through and the cost is corrected when the goods are received.
