Recording a customer's debt and the date they will pay

Sell on credit, tap the due date right after the sale (a week, two weeks or a month), and set payment terms in days on the customer.

A debt that has a due date is easy to follow up. You can say the date once, at the till, in one tap.

Steps

  1. At the till choose "Credit", attach the customer and charge. If they pay part now, enter "Paid now (optional)" (payment methods).
  2. On the screen after the sale, a line shows what the customer owes. Under it, "When will they pay?" offers "In a week", "In 2 weeks" and "In a month". Tap one.
  3. The line becomes "Pays by" with the date. To change it, tap "Change" and pick another choice.
  4. To follow all debts, tap "All debts" on that line (only if your role may open the debts screen).
  5. For a customer who always has the same terms, open "Customers", then the customer, press edit and fill "Payment terms (days)". A credit invoice is due that many days after its date.

If it doesn't work

  • No "When will they pay?" line: the sale was not on credit, or the customer owes nothing.
  • "Not saved, try again": check the internet and tap again.

What the system does not do

It does not charge interest on a late debt and it does not send a message when the date arrives. To remind a customer, use debt reminders.

Common questions

I did not tap a date. Does the invoice have one?
Yes. Without a tapped date the customer's payment terms apply: the invoice is due that many days after its date, and 30 days if the terms are empty.
Can I pick any date?
The strip offers a week, two weeks or a month. For other terms, set the customer's payment terms in days on their page.
